1. Where to camp?
The scenic area is divided into three gullies by function division. Shuangqiao Valley is for sightseeing tour, Changping Valley for ecological tour, and Haizi Valley for outdoor special tour. Shuangqiao Valley is generally not open to camping activities, so Changping Valley and Haizi Valley can only be selected for camping.
2. What time is suitable for camping?
The landscape features of Mount Siguniang can be divided into three periods: blooming period, colorful forest period and ice and snow period. Blooming period is From May to September; Colorful forest period is from late October to mid-late November. The period of ice and snow is from December to April of the following year. Choose your camping time according to your preference. It is suggested that friends like to see stars, avoid the middle of the lunar calendar when the moon is bright but stars are sparse.
3. What equipment is needed for camping?
Camping equipment list:
Clothes: equipped with three layers of outdoor clothing. In addition, high-top waterproof hiking shoes, multiple pairs of outdoor socks (preferably not cotton socks) and waterproof gloves are needed all the year round (thicker in winter).
Accessories: headlamp, sun hat, sunglasses, snow cover, windproof scarf (magic scarf). Camping equipment: four seasons tent (with snow skirt), waterproof pad, -20° down sleeping bag (camping friends are recommended to go in one step, save money).
Common medicines, food and snacks; backpack with volume of more than 60L, thermos cup with volume of more than 1L, stove, gas tank, pot sets, etc.
4. What are the camping procedures? What are the charges?
All outdoor activities at Mount Siguniang require a certified mountain guide and registration at the Outdoor Activities Management Center (Tel: 0837-2791999).
Meanwhile, buy a real-name outdoor ticket at the Outdoor Activity Center for RMB 150 (three days valid, another RMB 30 yuan per day after three days). The price for tourist guide is RMB 200 per guide per day, but generally RMB 150. A pack horse is RMB 200 per day. The horse that you ride is from the horse company in Haizi Valley, Changping Valley, which costs RMB 240 from Haizi Valley entrance to Huahaizi, and RMB 320 from Lama Temple to Muluozi. Your guide may provide you with breakfast and dinner, generally RMB 50 per person per day. The cost of hiring a guide, packhorse and horse-riding at Haizi Valley are all negotiable with the guide, ranging from RMB 150 to RMB 200 per day, depending on the tourist season. It is more cost-effective to join a group as it is easier to land a good bargain.
