Distribution of plant resources

       Mount Siguniang is one of the few areas where the subalpine and alpine vegetation are relatively well preserved in Sichuan Province and even the whole country, the most typical of which are alpine hard-leaved evergreen broad-leaved forest represented by fagaceae plants, ancient cypress forest represented by cupressaceae, dark coniferous forest formed mainly by pinaceae and mingled forest of subalpine evergreen forest and deciduous coniferous forest, as well as the valley forest community formed mainly by salicaceae, betulaceae and elaeagnaceae.

       1) Shuangqiao Valley

       In the section between the valley mouth and Wuse Mountain Villa (altitude: 3,000~3,500m), it is mainly grown with sorbaria arborea, tyollius yunnanrnsis, trollius ranunculoides, thalictrum petaloideum, potentilla leuconota and fragaria orientalis. In the forest and forest edge, 2 or 3 species of moccasin flower, paeonia veitchii lynch and daphneretusa might be found. Moreover, rhododendron phaeochrysum, podophyllum hexandrum, a variety of roses, pedicularis spp., geranium wilfordii and phlomis megalantha are vegetated in the forest and bushwood at the altitude of 3,500~3,700m. In particular, willow herbs with the flower varying from pink to red violet grow in stretches in this area, called "Bright red on the mountain", casting a spectacular view in blossom. Wild flowers above 3,700m are generally consistent throughout the scenic area, commonly polygonum sphaerostachyum meisn, polygonum viviparum l., anemone cathayensis kitag., primula malacoides, gentiana spp., parnassia palustris, aster tataricus, saussurea spp., leontopodium spp. and rhodiola spp., and most rhododendra are mainly distributed in the middle and upper part of the hillside on both sides of the Valley.

       2) Changping Valley

       In the section between the valley mouth and Kushu Flat (altitude: 3,200~3,500m), it is grown with rosa sericea, rhododendron phaeochrysum, chrysosplenicmi gnffithii, radix scrophulariae and daphneretusa. Between Kushu Flat and Muluozi (altitude: 3,500~3,700m), it is distributed with rhododendron vernicosum, rhododendron wasonii, allium funckiaefolium hand.-mazz, smilacina japonica, notholirion bulbuliferum, aconitum carmichaelii debx., rosa graciliflora, etc. Furthermore, the section between Muluozi and Shuidaba (altitude: 3,800m) is exceedingly abundant in such wild flowers as primula malacoides, gentiana hexaphylla, g. Squarrosa, g. Spathulifolia, false Chinese swertia herb, comastoma pulmonarium, a variety of Pedicularis spp., a variety of saxifraga stolonifera, ranunculus nephelogenes, batrachium bungei var. flavidum, stichopus japonicus, morina alba, aster alpinus, cypripedium, etc., which is one of the areas with the most wild flowers in the whole scenic area. Wild flowers of Guozhuangping - Haizi Valley

       Along the route from Siguniangshan Town to Daguozhuangping Meadow (altitude: 3,100~3,500m), it has a considerable variety of wild flowers and trees, mainly including rhododendron ambiguum, rhododendron maculiferum, rhododendron bureavii Franch., rhododendron nitidulum, a variety of Pedicularis spp., gentiana hexaphylla, g. Squarrosa, g. Spathulifolia, stellera chamaejasme, silverweed cinquefoili, parnassia palustris, daphneretusa, gentianopsis paludosa, anaphalis spp., leontopodium spp., cotoneaster adpressus bois, amitostigma gracile, tipularia szechuanica, etc., while along the route from Daguozhuang to Laoniu Yard (altitude: 3,500~3,700m), as the tourist route extends along the sunny slope, there are only a few number of wild flowers, such as dandelion, notholirion bulbuliferum, potentilla spp. and cedarwood are evergreen shrubs growing by clusters on the tree base or in the glade, which are of great ornamental value. Furthermore, seas of beautiful wild flowers are distributed from Laoniu Yard to the central part of Huahaizi through the side slope of Dahaizi (altitude: 3,700~3,850m), including primula nivalis, primula nutans, primula sikkimensis, meconopsis integrifolia, meconopsis georgei, aster vestitus, aster alpinus, gentiana sino-ornata, gentiana algida, pedicularis plicata, pedicularis verticillata, which really is an ideal landscape of alpine wild flowers.
